Hi Geo Bloggers, Today id like to write about the Chilean national holiday.
First, I think that the date of the holiday is a big error, 18th September was the day of the First Government National Meeting, and the participants only confirmed their diplomatic loyalty to Spain King Carlos IV. I don't considered that as a reason for celebrate, for me the real date of celebration its February, 12Th 1818.
Second, obviously I celebrate the holiday, but each time is different, because always with my family celebrate the holidays in different places.
The last year, I was in Plaza de Maipu with my mother, my brother, Jessica and her family, and some friends, we went to see the ramadas and the band of Cumbia "Chico Trujillo", the holiday of the last year was the most sad for me because was the first without my father.
Always I remember that the best Fiestas Patrias were when with all my family went to El Quisco and we went to the Ramadas in Algarrobo, a commune near to El Quisco, was very funny, I remember my father dance cueca with my mother, very much people, good Terremotos (drink) and good and beautiful girls. Too remember the typical activities how for example Palo Encebado, Rayuela and play with the Trompo or Emboque, I think that that activities are very important, because represent the soul of our nationality and our typical culture.
There is one activity that I don't like, the Rodeo is a very bad practice, I think that is a animal abuse disguised as sport, I feel very ashamed when I hear some people say that rodeo represent one of the most important sport in Chile.
I think that the best thing of Fiestas Patrias is the possibility of rest one week. :D
